1. What ages do you cater for?
We provide education and care for children from 6 weeks to 6 years of age, including babies, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. We also offer before and after school care for school aged children only from Emu Heights Public School.
2. What are your operating hours?
Little Emu Academy operates Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 6:00pm, excluding public holidays and our annual closure period.
3. Are you approved for Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?
Yes. We are a CCS-approved service. Eligible families can reduce their fees through CCS, subject to Services Australia approval and enrolment confirmation.
4. How do I enrol my child?
You can enrol by submitting an enquiry through our website, emailing us, or contacting the centre directly. Once a place becomes available, we will guide you through the enrolment process, required documentation, and CCS setup.
5. Do you offer orientation or transition visits?
Yes. We offer orientation visits to help children and families transition comfortably into care before their official start date.
6. What educational program do you follow?
Our curriculum follows the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and focuses on play-based learning, school readiness, social-emotional development, and independence.
7. Do you provide meals for children?
Yes. Nutritious meals and snacks are provided daily and aligned with Australian dietary guidelines. We cater for allergies, intolerances, and special dietary requirements.
8. How are allergies and medical conditions managed?
All allergies and medical needs are carefully documented and supported through individual health management and risk minimisation plans.
9. What qualifications do your educators hold?
Our educators hold, or are actively working towards, ACEQA-approved early childhood qualifications, including Certificate III and Diploma levels.
10. How do you ensure children’s safety and wellbeing?
We maintain secure premises, constant supervision, strict sign-in and sign-out procedures, and conduct regular safety checks and risk assessments.
11. How do you communicate with families?
Families receive daily updates, learning documentation, notices, and direct communication with educators and management. Open communication is always encouraged.
12. What should my child bring each day?
Children should bring a change of clothes, a sun-safe hat, and any comfort items if required. All learning materials are supplied by the service.
13. What is your illness policy?
We follow NSW Health and National Quality Standard guidelines. Children who are unwell must remain at home until they are symptom-free and well enough to return.
14. Do you offer a school readiness program?
Yes. Our preschool program includes structured school readiness experiences focusing on literacy, numeracy, social skills, routines, and independence.
15. How can I provide feedback or raise a concern?
We welcome feedback and value open dialogue. Families can speak directly with educators, the Nominated Supervisor, or the Director. All concerns are handled respectfully and confidentially.
