Community Engagement

We have a huge calendar of exciting programs which involve supportive community partners and help to create wonderful experiences for the children. Here are some of the fantastic organisations and people that Little Emu Academy has enjoyed partnering with.

Penrith Police

Constables talk to us about traffic safety, safe places to go and stranger danger. He teaches us important things to say including ‘No,’ ‘Go away’ and ‘Stop’ if we feel unsafe

Penrith Fire Station

The Penrith  firefighters visit us in their fire truck to share their knowledge about fire safety. We learn some drills like Stop, Drop and Roll, what number to call in an emergency, what to do if we catch fire on our clothes and how the fire hose works.

Emu Heights Public School

We (preschoolers) have an exciting weekly  excursions to Emu Heights Public  School! We explore a kindergarten class, join PE exercises with Year 6 students and race around their oval. We also see some of our old friends (former Little Emu Academy Preschoolers)!

Hatching Chicks

We have hatching chicks and ducklings for two weeks at the centre to learn about their lives! We get to see chicks hatch in the first week and ducklings in the second week. We observe them eating, drinking, sleeping, scratching and grow!

Cultural Events

Parents and grandparents come in to host reading and learning sessions. We celebrate Graduation nights – mothers and fathers days and our exciting end of year Christmas Parties.

Family Involement

When your child joins Little Emu Academy you become part of a broader community that values connection, contribution and collaboration.

There are many ways for families to participate at Little Emu Academy. Some are hands-on, others are behind-the-scenes. Whether you’re able to volunteer your time regularly or just lend your support when you can, we truly appreciate it.

Opportunities to get involved include:

  • -Helping out in your child’s room for stay-and-play sessions

  • -Attending parent information evenings and social events

  • -Volunteering on excursions

  • -Share your skills, whether professional (e.g. trades, gardening, legal, admin) or creative (e.g. music, cooking, storytelling)

  • -Contributing to working bees and fundraising efforts

  • -Supporting events and initiatives like book drives or sustainability projects

We understand that every family’s capacity looks different and that’s okay. You’re invited to be involved in whatever way suits you.
