Established in 1994, Little Emu Academy has been providing high-quality childcare and early learning for families in Emu Heights, the Lower Blue Mountains and surrounding Western Sydney communities.
Caring for up to 43 children aged from birth to five years, being a smaller service allows us to create a warm, welcoming environment where children, families and educators can genuinely get to know one another and feel part of our community.
Our educators have created highly stimulating, creative environments that constantly evolve to spark curiosity and support each stage of development.
We work in close partnership with families, offering thoughtful guidance and collaboration when needed, and always with care and respect.
Open Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Little Emu Academy is approved for the Australian Government Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and NSW Start Strong Preschool Funding, making quality early education more accessible for local families.
At Little Emu Academy, the safety, health, and wellbeing of all children is our highest priority. We believe that every child has the right to feel safe, protected, and respected at all times while in our care.
Little Emu Academy has zero tolerance for any form of child abuse or harm. We are committed to creating and maintaining a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where children feel secure, empowered, and confident to speak up if they have concerns about their own safety or the safety of others. All concerns are taken seriously and responded to promptly and sensitively.
Little Emu Academy takes a proactive and preventative approach to child safety. We implement strong systems, procedures, and ongoing training to ensure children are protected at all times while in our care. These include:
Secure, gated and locked entrances to the service to prevent unauthorised access.
CCTV monitoring across the service, including all indoor and outdoor areas, to support safety, supervision, and accountability.
Strict Working With Children Check (WWCC) requirements for all staff, students, contractors, and volunteers prior to engagement.
Comprehensive background and reference checks conducted for all employees.
Regular child safety and child protection training for all educators and staff, including ongoing professional development.
Mandatory child-safe practices embedded across the service, with clear expectations for behaviour, supervision, and reporting.
Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma certifications held by staff, with training regularly renewed in line with regulatory requirements.
